Supreme Court Slams Illegal Buildings

The Supreme Court has expressed serious concern over the rise of illegal constructions and fire safety violations in Delhi and other regions. The court questioned why strict action was not being taken against those responsible and observed that officials who neglect their duties should also be held accountable. It stressed the need for stronger enforcement to ensure public safety.

Taking suo motu cognisance of fire safety lapses in Gurugram, the Supreme Court directed authorities to constitute a special inspection team to examine buildings and ensure compliance with safety norms. The court emphasized that public safety cannot be compromised and called for strict measures to prevent such violations in the future.
