Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha directed police officials to intensify network-based investigations against individuals involved in cyber crimes such as objectionable social media posts, spreading false information, and targeted campaigns against constitutional authorities. She emphasized that enforcement measures should not affect freedom of expression, democratic discussions, or lawful criticism. She stated that 1,665 cases have been registered in the last two years and 12,653 web links related to such content were removed through the Sahyog portal.
During a review meeting held at the Police Headquarters in Mangalagiri along with DGP Harish Kumar Gupta, the Home Minister instructed officials to establish cyber guard units and district social media units across all districts. She also directed authorities to prepare standard operating procedures for political visits in sensitive areas and ensure timely resolution of land dispute complaints.
