‘Stree Shakti’ Boosts Women’s Confidence

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said that the ‘Stree Shakti’ scheme, launched on August 15 last year, has enabled 87 crore free bus journeys so far, with around 24 lakh journeys taking place every day. He said the scheme is helping women save money on transportation and use their savings for family needs, businesses and children’s education. As the scheme completed one year, the Chief Minister travelled by bus with women from the Amaravati Parade Grounds to the CM’s camp office and interacted with them.

During the interaction, Chandrababu enquired about the women’s families, income, employment, children’s education, health and benefits received through government schemes. A fisherwoman from Kakinada district said she was saving around ₹4,000 every month on bus fares. A woman from Nandyal said the scheme was helping her save around ₹1,500 a month and that she was also receiving benefits from other government schemes. The Chief Minister said ‘Stree Shakti’ was providing women not only with greater freedom of travel but also financial independence and confidence.
