Amid BJP’s increased focus on Telangana, discussions are underway within the party over whether the state will get additional representation in the upcoming Union Cabinet expansion. Currently, Bharatiya Janata Party has two Union ministers from Telangana, with G. Kishan Reddy serving as a Cabinet Minister and Bandi Sanjay Kumar as a Minister of State. Several MPs from the state, including Etela Rajender, D. K. Aruna, Dharmapuri Arvind, and G. Nagesh, are reportedly in contention.
Party sources indicate that Telangana’s growing importance in BJP’s southern strategy may lead to an additional ministerial berth. While leaders like Etela Rajender and D. K. Aruna are seen as front-runners, caste balance and gender representation are also being considered. However, with existing regional representation already in place, there is debate within the party on whether another minister from Telangana will be inducted. The final decision is expected to remain uncertain until the last moment.
