Minister Sridhar Babu strongly criticised the BRS leaders over the recent ruckus surrounding the Telangana Assembly. He alleged that KTR himself was seen attacking police personnel, while Pochampally Srinivas Reddy and Naveen Reddy were also seen assaulting the police in television visuals. He further alleged that the leaders used abusive language against the police. Sridhar Babu made the remarks while addressing the media at the Congress Legislature Party office on Monday, along with government whips Aadi Srinivas, Yennam Srinivas Reddy, Vijay Ramana Rao and Ramachandra Naik, besides Parigi MLA Ram Mohan Reddy. He said rules prohibiting members from entering the Assembly premises with badges and placards were framed during the BRS government itself and added that wearing T-shirts carrying slogans was also against Assembly conventions.
Sridhar Babu demanded that former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao attend the Assembly and apologise to Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar if the BRS wants to prove that it is not anti-Dalit. He said the remarks made by a BRS MLC had deeply distressed the Speaker and hurt Dalit legislators. Questioning KTR and Harish Rao, he asked why they had not condemned the MLC’s remarks so far. On the alleged difficulties faced by women BRS legislators, Sridhar Babu said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy reviewed the matter with police officials as soon as he was informed about the incident. He said the government would investigate the matter and take action if any wrongdoing was established. Responding to KTR and Harish Rao’s remarks about moving a no-confidence motion, Sridhar Babu said the Congress would not be intimidated by such threats.
