Following the directions of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the Telangana government has constituted a special committee to identify participants of the Telangana movement and honour their services and sacrifices. The General Administration Department issued GO Rt No. 679 on Friday in this regard. During the movement, several activists lost their lives, some suffered physical disabilities, and many faced arrests and imprisonment. The decision comes in response to long-standing demands for official recognition of their contribution.
The committee will be chaired by government advisor Dr. K. Keshava Rao and will include Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, MLC Professor Kodandaram, MLC–Whip Addanki Dayakar, former MLC S. Ramulu Naik, and Mothe Shobhan Reddy. The Political Secretary of the General Administration Department will serve as the convenor. The committee’s primary responsibility is to frame criteria for identifying movement activists, prepare a list, and recommend recognition, honour, and welfare measures. The government has directed the committee to submit its report at the earliest.
