Sonam Wangchuk Ends Hunger Strike After PM’s Assurance

The nationwide protest over the NEET question paper leak has taken a significant turn, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi stepping in to assure students of strict action against those responsible. In separate statements, Modi announced the establishment of fast-track courts, stricter legal measures, and a proposed anti-paper leak law to ensure swift justice. The Central Government also transferred senior officials in the Higher Education Department and notified a special court to handle paper leak-related criminal cases.

Meanwhile, education reform activist Sonam Wangchuk ended his 26-day hunger strike after discussions with Union Ministers. The SJP, which had initially rejected the Prime Minister's appeal, later agreed to hold talks with the Centre at a neutral venue while maintaining its demand for Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation. Student organisations have announced nationwide protests, and public figures, including Sachin Tendulkar and Murli Manohar Joshi, extended support to students demanding transparency and accountability.
