Sonam Wangchuk Breaks Silence on Hunger Strike Criticism

Sonam Wangchuk has strongly rejected allegations that he called off his hunger strike after reaching an understanding with the Central Government. Releasing a video statement, the environmentalist and social activist said such comments were deeply hurtful and unfair. He questioned why he would spend 26 days fasting on the streets of Delhi in extreme heat if he had already entered into any agreement.

Wangchuk stated that his hunger strike was a sincere and peaceful movement and revealed that he lost nearly 11 kilograms during the protest. He expressed disappointment over the criticism and asked whether he still needed to prove his honesty despite making such sacrifices. His response has triggered fresh discussion on social media over the purpose and outcome of his protest.
