The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Telangana is progressing rapidly, with officials indicating that nearly 24 lakh voter entries could be removed after verification. Out of the state's 3.38 crore registered voters, 71.34% of the enumeration forms have already been digitized as part of the ongoing revision process.
Officials said the verification exercise has identified around 6.5 lakh deceased voters, over 12 lakh people who have permanently shifted to other locations, nearly 2.6 lakh duplicate entries, and around 78,000 voters whose whereabouts could not be traced. Authorities added that the number of deletions may increase further before the draft electoral roll is released on the 3rd of next month.
