Food Safety officials and the Hyderabad Food Adulteration Surveillance Team (H-FAST) conducted a surprise inspection at the Barbeque Nation restaurant in Upparpally, Attapur, after receiving complaints of food poisoning from two customers. During the inspection, officials found spoiled meat and food items stored in unhygienic conditions.
Authorities also noticed that old meat had allegedly been relabelled with fresh dates to mislead inspectors. Samples of chicken, mutton, fish, cakes, ice cream, and other food items were collected and sent to the laboratory for testing. Officials said strict action would be taken based on the test results.
Food Inspector Soumya Reddy stated that a report would be submitted to the Ranga Reddy District Administration, recommending heavy penalties and further legal action against the restaurant if violations are confirmed. Residents also urged officials to conduct similar inspections at hotels and restaurants across Attapur and Rajendranagar.
