Authorities have cancelled thousands of Waqf property registrations in Uttar Pradesh after identifying major discrepancies during verification on the UMEED portal. The central government launched the portal to digitize and geo-tag Waqf properties across the country. During scrutiny, officials found mismatches in land records, ownership documents, and other submitted details.
According to officials, out of 1,18,302 Waqf properties registered on the portal in Uttar Pradesh, registrations of 31,328 properties have been cancelled so far. Additionally, 31,192 claims related to Waqf ownership were also rejected after verification. Authorities stated that several documents and revenue records failed to match, leading to strict action against doubtful claims.
