Members of the Students' Federation of India (SFI) organized a protest march to the Kerala Secretariat in Thiruvananthapuram against the proposed fee hike in institutions run by the Co-operative Academy of Professional Education (CAPE). The student organization alleged that the fee increase would impose an additional financial burden on students and limit access to affordable higher education for many families.
As protesters attempted to advance towards the Secretariat, tensions escalated near police barricades. In response, police used water cannons to disperse the crowd and prevent further escalation. SFI leaders demanded the immediate rollback of the proposed fee hike and urged the Kerala government to safeguard the interests of students, particularly those from economically weaker sections.
