

Heavy rains and flash floods have wreaked havoc across Jammu and Kashmir, triggering landslides and causing extensive damage in several areas. In Poonch district, seven people were killed after landslides struck residential areas. Officials confirmed that four of the deceased were women, while rescue teams continue search and relief operations in the affected regions amid challenging weather conditions.
According to officials, the death toll in Poonch district has risen to 17 due to rain-related incidents. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and announced ex gratia compensation for the families of the victims. The administration has directed authorities to intensify rescue efforts and provide all possible assistance to those affected by the floods and landslides.
