Seven fishermen escaped with their lives after a fishing boat capsized near the Fishing Harbour on Thursday morning due to rough sea conditions. The fishermen had ventured into the sea for fishing when the boat reportedly lost control amid high waves and overturned. The strong currents pushed both the boat and the fishermen into large rocks near the harbour.
The fishermen managed to survive by holding on to the overturned boat until they were rescued. Two fishermen, identified as Tatarao and Akash, sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving treatment at King George Hospital (KGH) in Visakhapatnam. The accident caused extensive damage to the fishing boat, valued at approximately ₹2.5 lakh, and a fishing net worth around ₹2 lakh. The fishermen expressed gratitude for surviving the mishap and appealed to the government for financial assistance to recover from their losses.
