Serious allegations have surfaced regarding the issuance of SADAREM disability certificates at the Government General Hospital in Mahabubnagar. It is alleged that disability assessments are being conducted by temporary doctors who are not members of the Medical Board, and certificates are being issued based on their recommendations. Critics claim that the prescribed guidelines are being ignored, raising concerns over the transparency and credibility of the certification process.
The SADAREM certification is a crucial document that enables persons with disabilities to access government welfare schemes, pensions, reservations in employment and the Unique Disability Identity (UDID) card. Allegations have also emerged that disability percentages are being manipulated in some cases. Officials have stated that only Medical Board members are authorised to certify disability assessments and assured that responsibility would be entrusted to the concerned Heads of Departments (HoDs) to ensure strict adherence to the prescribed rules.
