Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that security is the foundation of development and praised the Telangana Special Protection Force (TGSPF) for protecting critical institutions across the state. He was speaking at the force’s anniversary celebrations held in Ameenpur on October 23. Established on October 23, 1991, the force has grown into an important security organisation, currently protecting 67 institutions, including the Telangana Secretariat, Legislative Assembly, High Court, Nagarjuna Sagar Project, major temples, government hospitals, power generation plants and key central government establishments. Around 2,000 personnel are reportedly involved in these duties. Bhatti Vikramarka said the force’s role extends beyond protecting buildings, as it helps government institutions function without disruption and safeguards public confidence. He emphasised that reliable security is essential for industries, investments, roads, electricity projects, hospitals and educational institutions.
Highlighting the importance of security at power generation facilities such as Yadadri, Kothagudem and Bhadradri, the Deputy Chief Minister appreciated personnel who help ensure uninterrupted electricity production. He also noted that emerging technologies, including drones, artificial intelligence, surveillance systems and cyber-connected infrastructure, are creating new security challenges. He called for continuous training, technical skills, physical fitness, discipline, integrity and responsible public interaction. Bhatti Vikramarka said the government would give priority to the welfare of TGSPF personnel, professional development and improved working conditions. He also acknowledged the sacrifices made by their families, who support them while they serve during festivals, holidays, nights and emergencies. He expressed confidence that the force would continue contributing to a safer, stronger and more prosperous Telangana.
