State Bank of India (SBI) is optimistic about its future growth, with Chairman Challa Sreenivasulu Setty saying that the bank’s overall business could potentially double to around ₹200 lakh crore by July 1, 2030, when SBI completes 75 years.
Setty clarified that ₹200 lakh crore is not a formally fixed target. Instead, the projection is based on SBI’s current business growth and the broader expansion of the Indian economy. SBI’s total business stood at ₹110.01 lakh crore in the June quarter of the 2026-27 financial year.
According to Setty, SBI’s growth is closely linked to India’s economic performance. If India’s GDP grows at an annual rate of 7–8%, the bank’s balance sheet could expand by around 11–12% every year. At that pace, SBI’s balance sheet would roughly double every six years.
Based on this growth trajectory, Setty said reaching the ₹200 lakh crore business mark by 2030 would not be particularly difficult. The projection highlights SBI’s confidence in continued economic growth and the expansion of banking and financial activity in the country.
