Sand loading operations have been suspended at 35 sand quarries across Telangana, affecting the supply chain in several regions. In Bhadradri Kothagudem district alone, operations at 18 sand quarries have come to a halt. Contractors say the sharp increase in diesel prices has made operations financially unsustainable.
The contractors have also demanded the release of ₹300 crore in pending dues, which they claim have remained unpaid since the previous government's tenure. They stated that loading activities will remain suspended until their demands are addressed. The disruption is expected to impact sand availability across the state.
