Sai Krishna Case - SC Continues Hearing on Gurumoorthy’s Petition

The Supreme Court continued hearing a plea filed by YSR Congress Party MP Maddila Gurumoorthy in connection with the disappearance and subsequent developments in the Sai Krishna case at Vijayawada’s Krishnalanka police station. The Bench questioned Gurumoorthy’s interest in the matter after his senior counsel, Nikhil Goel, said that Sai Krishna’s mother was not pursuing the petition filed before the Andhra Pradesh High Court. Justice Sandeep Mehta asked why Gurumoorthy was interested in the matter if the victim’s mother herself was not pursuing it.

The Bench also noted that related petitions are pending before the Andhra Pradesh High Court, including a habeas corpus petition and a plea seeking a CBI probe. The court said the High Court should first complete the proceedings and pronounce its decision, after which the matter could be challenged if necessary. The Supreme Court adjourned further hearing on Gurumoorthy’s plea to October 26.
