The Sabarimala Ayyappa temple will open its doors at 5 pm on Sunday for the Malayalam New Year and the sacred Chingam month poojas. In the presence of chief priest Kandarar Brahmadattan, the melsanthi will open the sanctum doors and begin the special rituals. Devotees will be allowed darshan from 5 am on August 17.
The temple will be temporarily closed at 10 pm on August 21 after the special poojas. It will reopen on August 24 for the Onam festival celebrations. The Travancore Devaswom Board and Kerala State Road Transport Corporation have made extensive arrangements to ensure a smooth pilgrimage for devotees.
