The death toll from the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela is steadily rising and is now nearing 2,000. Officials have also reported 10,571 injured and around 50,000 people missing, raising serious concerns about the scale of the disaster.
In addition, nearly 58,000 buildings have been damaged and 189 structures completely destroyed. Rescue operations have been ongoing for the past week on a war footing basis, but authorities warn that the number of casualties may increase further as search efforts continue.
