As part of educational reforms, the School Education Department has decided to introduce AI based learning for students from an early age. Students of Classes 3 to 5 will receive AI lessons for 80 minutes every week. AI tools will be used to improve learning abilities in Mathematics, Telugu, and English subjects.
Students will learn Mathematics twice a week for 20 minutes each session, while language subjects will receive equal time, making a total of 80 minutes of AI assisted learning every week. From the 2026-27 academic year, the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy programme, which was earlier limited to government schools, will become mandatory in private schools as well.
Telangana's ranking in national educational surveys has improved from 36 to 26 over the last four years. The programme aims to strengthen reading, writing, mathematics, and technology skills among students. Baseline tests in July, midline assessments in November, and endline examinations in March will be conducted to monitor student progress.
