Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to strengthen public transport and improve road connectivity across Hyderabad’s Core Urban Region (CURE), keeping future travel demands in mind. During a review meeting on public transport, road infrastructure and recycled water utilisation, officials presented a proposal for introducing a Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) system in heavily congested parts of the city. The Chief Minister asked them to design the system to connect high-traffic areas and industrial employment zones with Metro Rail, MMTS and bus stations. He also instructed officials to study leading PRT systems worldwide, identify suitable locations and prioritise modern technology and efficient maintenance. He called for faster completion of flyovers and underpasses, smoother traffic movement around KBR Park through a one-way system, and accelerated utility shifting and flyover construction between Nagarjuna Circle and Jubilee Check Post. He also asked officials to study construction technologies used in cities such as Mumbai to ensure that projects are completed within a year wherever feasible.
The Chief Minister further directed officials to examine the feasibility of a radial road running parallel to the proposed Hyderabad–Mumbai bullet train corridor and assess road-widening and new-road options between Shankarpally and Chevella. On water management, he called for speeding up projects to facilitate the use of 500 MLD of recycled water. The plan is intended to support data centres in Bharat Future City, Chandanvalli and Aluru, along with other industries. He also stressed the use of recycled water in high-rise buildings, landscaped areas and parks. Revanth Reddy instructed the Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Malkajgiri corporations, HYDRAA, the Water Board and Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited to coordinate closely in implementing the CURE Act. He also called for expediting the development of the Cyberabad and Malkajgiri corporation offices. Senior officials, including Chief Minister’s Secretary Manik Raj, Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited adviser NVS Reddy, Additional Managing Director Ajith Reddy and Water Board Managing Director Ashok Reddy, attended the meeting.
