Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy laid the foundation stone for the new campus of the National Institute of Urban Management (NIUM) at Bharat Future City. The project is estimated to cost ₹200 crore, and the state government has allotted 20 acres of land for its development. Selected in 2009 under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), the institute's project remained delayed for years because land had not been allotted. The latest allocation is expected to facilitate the development of the long-pending campus. NIUM is envisioned as an action-oriented research institution that will support urban policy formulation and strengthen urban management practices in Telangana.
During the foundation stone-laying ceremony held at the Future City Development Authority (FCDA) premises, the Chief Minister directed officials to complete construction by June 2, 2028, with the aim of inaugurating the campus on Telangana Formation Day. Public representatives and senior officials attended the event. Earlier, Revanth Reddy inspected the ongoing construction of buildings at Young India Skills University (YISU) and the surrounding area, offering instructions to officials on the progress of the works. The NIUM campus is expected to contribute to research, planning, and policy development related to urban growth and management in the state.
