RDS Modernisation Should Be Accelerated: Minister Uttam

Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy has directed engineers to expedite the modernization of the Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme (RDS). He made it clear that Telangana will not compromise on its rightful share of Tungabhadra river waters. A review meeting was held at the Secretariat on RDS, Thummilla lift irrigation, and Tungabhadra water issues.

Officials briefed the minister about illegal water diversions to KC Canal and delays in main canal works. He instructed that Telangana’s allocated water from Tungabhadra must be fully utilized and canal works should be completed on priority. He also directed land acquisition of 3,165 acres for reservoirs under the second phase of Thummilla lift irrigation with a storage capacity of 2.12 TMC.
