Rare Total Solar Eclipse Today.. India to Miss the Spectacular Event!

A rare total solar eclipse is taking place today, August 12, 2026. The Moon will pass between the Sun and Earth, blocking the Sun’s light and creating a spectacular celestial event. Totality will be visible across parts of Greenland, Iceland, northern Spain and northeastern Portugal, while a partial eclipse will be seen across wider parts of Europe, North Africa and North America.

The event is particularly significant as a total solar eclipse is returning to mainland Europe after several years. However, the eclipse will not be visible from India as it will occur during nighttime across the country. People in regions where the eclipse is visible are advised to use certified solar viewing glasses and avoid looking directly at the Sun without proper protection.
