Rain is likely to continue across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on October 18 and 19, according to the weather department. Several areas may experience moderate to heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds. The weather conditions are attributed to a surface circulation over northern Tamil Nadu and south coastal Andhra Pradesh, along with a trough extending from south coastal Andhra Pradesh towards the northwest Bay of Bengal. These conditions may persist for the next two days.
In Telangana, rain is forecast in parts of the erstwhile Khammam, Warangal, Nalgonda, Rangareddy, Mahabubnagar, Hyderabad and Karimnagar districts. Other districts may receive light to moderate rainfall. Hyderabad could also experience showers from afternoon to evening, with thunderstorms possible in some areas. In Andhra Pradesh, heavy rain is possible in parts of Alluri Sitharama Raju, Polavaram, Konaseema, NTR, Palnadu, Markapuram, Anantapur, Kadapa, Annamayya, Chittoor and Tirupati districts. Other areas may receive light to moderate showers.
Authorities have advised people to remain cautious, as heavy rain could cause waterlogging and raise water levels in streams and rivers. People should avoid standing under trees or near electric poles during thunderstorms and should limit outdoor activities during lightning. Farmers are advised to take suitable measures to protect their crops, while motorists should drive carefully on wet and waterlogged roads. Residents should rely on official weather updates for the latest information.
