China has once again showcased its engineering excellence by completing the massive Chongqing East High-Speed Railway Hub in just 38 months. Construction of this world-class project began in May 2022 in Chongqing’s Nan’an district and was inaugurated in June 2025, marking a historic achievement in rapid infrastructure development.
The station spans 1.22 million square meters and is among the largest railway hubs in the world, integrating high-speed trains, metro lines, buses, taxis, and long-distance transport systems. It features 15 platforms and 29 tracks, capable of handling 16,000 passengers per hour and nearly 1 billion annually. Built under extreme conditions, including temperatures reaching 40°C, the project extensively used AI-powered robotics, LiDAR systems, 5G technology, and automated construction machines, reducing costs by 40% and improving safety significantly. The project gained global attention after Elon Musk shared a 6-minute video praising China’s advanced high-speed rail network.
