Congress leader Rahul Gandhi strongly criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his savings advisory to citizens amid the West Asia crisis. Rahul said that suggestions such as avoiding gold purchases, reducing foreign travel, cutting fuel and cooking oil usage, using metro transport, and working from home were not in the interest of public welfare but a reflection of the Prime Minister’s failure. He further alleged that Modi has lost the capability to govern the country.
However, the BJP rejected the criticism and defended the Prime Minister. It clarified that Modi did not ask people to make sacrifices but only suggested measures like saving fuel, promoting domestic products, conserving foreign exchange, and strengthening self-reliance in the national interest. BJP leaders also accused the Congress of limiting itself to political criticism rather than contributing to nation-building.
