Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has written to President Droupadi Murmu, urging her to reconsider Dushyant Gautam’s appointment as the Governor of Sikkim until the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) completes its probe into the 2022 murder of Ankita Bhandari. In his letter, Rahul reportedly raised concerns over the delay in identifying and investigating the alleged VIP angle in the case. He argued that proceeding with the appointment while the investigation remains underway could complicate the process and called for the matter to be reconsidered in the interest of ensuring a fair investigation.
Ankita Bhandari’s family has also expressed opposition to the appointment and continues to demand justice for her. The case relates to the 2022 murder of the 19-year-old woman, who worked at a resort in Uttarakhand. The alleged VIP connection has remained a point of public debate, with calls for greater clarity regarding the circumstances surrounding the crime. However, allegations against Dushyant Gautam remain unproven, and the CBI investigation is ongoing. The matter has renewed political and public attention on the case and the demand for accountability.
