PVN Madhav has urged the state government to take immediate action on groundwater conservation, rainwater harvesting, and rural sanitation. He expressed concern that climate change, erratic rainfall, excessive groundwater usage, and drying borewells are clear indicators of a looming water crisis. In a statement issued on Monday, he said that BJP cadres have compiled public grievances received through “Janata Vaaradhi” and submitted representations to district collectors across the state.
Madhav emphasized the need for proper management of water resources and called for the construction of recharge pits, check dams, and small ponds to improve groundwater levels. He noted that while the Central Government is supporting states through schemes like Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission with guidelines, funding, and geo-tagging, there appears to be negligence by some officials in implementing these programs effectively at the state level.
