Multilingual actor Prakash Raj faced protests during the closing session of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Karnataka Vidyavardhaka Sangha. Representatives led by BJP leaders Savita Amarashetty and Rahul Malligawada staged a demonstration against the actor and raised slogans of “Go Back Prakash Raj”. At the same time, a group supporting Prakash Raj gathered at the venue and raised counter-slogans welcoming the actor.
Police intervened to prevent the situation from escalating and took the protesters who raised slogans against the actor into vehicles before moving them away from the venue. Some individuals also allegedly smeared ink on a banner featuring Prakash Raj outside the Vidyavardhaka Sangha and tore it down. After the programme concluded, police escorted Prakash Raj from the venue under security. The incident created tension around the event, though the programme was subsequently completed.
