Renowned educationist and social activist Sonam Wangchuk’s indefinite hunger strike demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations has entered its 16th day. According to the Swaraj Janata Party (SJP), his health has worsened significantly, with a weight loss of 8.2 kg and a noticeable drop in blood pressure. Meanwhile, the protest at Jantar Mantar has reached its 24th day, drawing increasing public attention.
SJP founder Abhijit Dipke urged the central government via social media not to turn a life-and-death issue into a matter of ego, stressing that acknowledging mistakes is not a sign of weakness. In a show of solidarity, an Aam Aadmi Party delegation led by former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi visited the protest site and extended support to the demonstrators, intensifying political backing for the agitation.
