

Telangana Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy and Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar praised the Telugu community in Switzerland for preserving its mother tongue, culture and traditions while living abroad. They said celebrations such as Bathukamma and Bonalu help pass Telugu heritage on to future generations. As part of an overseas study tour organised under the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, a delegation from Telangana’s legislature visited Bern, Switzerland, on Thursday. During the visit, Gutha Sukhender Reddy and Gaddam Prasad Kumar unveiled the official website of the Switzerland Telugu Association and the poster for this year’s Bathukamma celebrations.
Representatives of the Telugu association briefed the delegation on plans to construct a Lord Venkateswara temple in Switzerland. Legislative Council Deputy Chairman Banda Prakash, Assembly Secretary Rendla Tirupati, Legislative Council Secretary Narasimhacharyulu, Switzerland Telugu Association president Kiran Vedantham and secretary Hariprasad attended the programme. Earlier, the delegation visited the historic Parliament building in Bern and discussed Switzerland’s parliamentary system, democratic traditions, legislative procedures, lawmaking and the responsibilities of elected representatives.
