Preparations Underway for Local Body Elections in AP.. SEC Reviews Arrangements with Officials

The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission has stepped up preparations for conducting local body elections in the state. State Election Commissioner Anil Chandra Punetha held a video conference with district collectors, SPs and officials from the Panchayat Raj and Municipal departments to review the arrangements. The meeting focused on expediting the election process for rural and urban local bodies in view of recent court developments.

The SEC is making arrangements to conduct the elections in phases and has reviewed the availability of voter lists, election personnel, ballot boxes and other required material. Officials are also working on the necessary logistical arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the polls. The Andhra Pradesh High Court has directed the state government and SEC to expeditiously commence the local body election process.
