Power Capacity Boost with Yadadri Plant

The Telangana government is accelerating efforts to bring the Yadadri Thermal Power Plant at Damaracherla to full-scale power generation, with the aim of meeting the state’s growing electricity demand and strengthening its power availability. The plant has five units of 800 MW each, taking its total installed capacity to 4,000 MW. TGGENCO’s thermal generation capacity is also set to rise significantly with the addition of Yadadri capacity.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to commence full-scale generation at the Yadadri plant before Dasara, while Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka is overseeing efforts to address the coal requirement. Officials have been asked to explore coal supplies from Mahanadi Coalfields and Coal India to ensure uninterrupted generation. The government is also reviewing measures to maximise generation from all thermal power stations and meet the state’s power requirements.
