Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy announced that the Indiramma Housing Scheme will be launched on the 20th of this month under the CURE limits. He stated that one lakh houses will be constructed for the LIG category in the 2026–27 financial year. In the first phase, as a pilot project, 500 to 1,000 houses will be built in each constituency. Speaking at a review meeting held at the Secretariat, the minister said that administrative approvals for one lakh houses have already been granted, and final guidelines will be announced soon in coordination with other ministers.
He added that land has been identified in Hyderabad, Rangareddy, and Medchal-Malkajgiri regions, and discussions are underway with the Chief Minister to finalize construction plans, including design, number of floors, and flat size. Criticizing the previous government for constructing houses far from the city, he emphasized that the new plan ensures better accessibility and livelihood opportunities. He also noted that beneficiaries sharing their happiness on social media reflects the success of the initiative, reaffirming the government’s commitment to fulfilling the dream of owning a house for the poor.
