Former Telangana minister and BRS leader Harish Rao has strongly criticised the Congress government over the inclusion of properties in the 22A prohibited list. Speaking at a meeting of people affected by the restrictions in Malkajgiri, he alleged that a large number of properties across Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal districts were blocked, causing serious difficulties for ordinary property owners. He questioned why these lands were placed under restrictions again after the Urban Land Ceiling (ULC) Act was repealed in 2008.
Harish Rao alleged that around 7,500 government orders were involved in Rangareddy district and nearly 6,000 in Medchal district, affecting a large number of properties. He also raised allegations regarding commissions being demanded for removing properties from the 22A list and questioned who was responsible for the decision. Harish Rao demanded that the government identify those responsible and remove the properties from the prohibited list without imposing any conditions. The BRS leader also demanded that Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy take moral responsibility and resign.
