Visakhapatnam City Police conducted special inspections at pubs, bars and restaurants across the city on the night of October 10, following instructions from Police Commissioner Dr. Shankhabrata Bagchi, IPS. A total of 31 special teams comprising 93 police personnel carried out simultaneous checks. Officers examined licences and permits and identified several violations, including charging prices above the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) and operating without required food, trade and labour licences.
The inspections also revealed the alleged use of domestic LPG cylinders in commercial kitchens, missing fire safety clearances, inadequate parking facilities and establishments operating beyond permitted hours. Police advised the managements concerned to rectify the violations and warned that legal action would follow if rules were not followed. The department said the inspections aimed to protect public safety and curb illegal activities. Citizens can share complaints or information by contacting 7995095799, and police said the identities of informants would be kept confidential.
