The Centre has extended the deadline for completing Phase-1 of the Polavaram Irrigation Project by another year and approved the revised cost estimate of ₹30,436.95 crore. The decision is expected to provide additional time for completing the remaining works and achieving the targets set for the first phase of the major irrigation project. The revised estimate marks an important step in providing financial clarity for the ongoing works.
According to the available figures, a total of ₹12,620.53 crore was released towards the project between 2021 and 2026. The additional one-year extension is expected to facilitate the completion of pending components and related works.
