Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech in Jakarta, Indonesia, drew attention after he referenced the popular Bollywood song ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.’ Highlighting the popularity of Indian cinema in Indonesia, he noted that the song enjoys a strong fan base there as well. He remarked that when India and Indonesia work together, they can achieve “from a little to a lot,” playfully using the phrase ‘Kuch Kuch’ to ‘Bahut Kuch.’
Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar expressed his gratitude and delight over the mention. He said it was an honor to hear the Prime Minister refer to a film he directed, adding that cinema transcends language barriers. He thanked Modi for acknowledging the song in the context of strengthening ties between the two nations. Released in 1998, the film was a massive success.
