The Telangana government is reportedly planning a fresh reorganisation of municipal divisions in Hyderabad, particularly within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) limits. As part of this proposal, the number of divisions across three major corporations is expected to increase significantly, ranging between 300 and 400. The move aims to improve administrative efficiency and accommodate the city’s growing population.
According to sources, the government is considering increasing divisions in GHMC from 150 to 200, in Cyberabad Municipal Corporation from 76 to 100, and in Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation from 74 to 100. Previously, GHMC was expanded from 150 to 300 divisions by creating three corporations, and now there are plans to further increase the total to 400 divisions. The government is also planning to conduct elections for GHMC and other pending corporations in November, followed by polls in Cyberabad and Malkajgiri. With GHMC expected to have 200 divisions, a party will need to win at least 101 seats to secure the Mayor’s post.
