The Delhi government has approved a new Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy aimed at accelerating the transition to clean mobility. Under the policy, registration of new petrol and CNG-powered two-wheelers will end from April 1, 2028, with only new electric two-wheelers eligible for registration thereafter. The decision applies to new vehicle registrations and does not prohibit the use of existing petrol or CNG two-wheelers.
The policy also provides a 100% exemption from road tax and registration charges for electric cars priced up to ₹30 lakh (ex-showroom). The Delhi government said the measures are intended to reduce air pollution, encourage EV adoption, and strengthen sustainable urban transportation across the national capital.
