Residents of Sangareddy are set to get relief from a long-standing problem as a Passport Seva Kendra is expected to become available at the district headquarters. The Sangareddy Head Post Office will be developed as a Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) and upgraded into a Model Post Office. The decision follows a request by Medak MP Raghunandan Rao, with Union Minister of State for Communications Dr Pemmasani Chandrasekhar taking special initiative to facilitate the development. The move will bring passport-related services closer to residents of Sangareddy and surrounding areas.
The Head Post Office will also be developed as a dedicated parcel unit, improving parcel booking, delivery and e-commerce services for businesses and the public. Residents are likely to save time and travel expenses as the need to visit distant locations for passport services is reduced. MP Raghunandan Rao thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Minister Pemmasani Chandrasekhar for responding to his request. The development also gains significance as the local issue had earlier been highlighted in a special report published by ‘Disha’ on June 29, drawing attention to the long-pending demand and the need to modernise postal services in Sangareddy.
