Passenger Traffic Declines at Hyderabad Airport.

Passenger traffic at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport declined 11.5% in August compared with the same month last year, according to a GMR report. The airport handled 21,86,082 passengers during the month, compared with 24,70,499 in August last year. Domestic passenger traffic fell 13.6%, while international traffic declined 26%. The report attributed the broader decline to international developments and rising fuel prices.

The decline was sharper than the 9.6% fall recorded in July. Flight movements at Shamshabad airport also decreased, with 14,583 movements recorded in August, down 14.2% year-on-year. Delhi was an exception, with passenger traffic at Indira Gandhi International Airport rising 2.7%. International traffic there increased 17%, while domestic traffic grew 3%, and flight movements rose 11.6% compared with August last year.
