A Pakistan Army major was killed and four militants were shot dead in separate security operations in Balochistan province, Pakistani military authorities said on Monday. Acting on intelligence about militant movements in the Shadi Kaur area of Gwadar district and Jattakabad in Kalat district, security forces launched operations. During an exchange of fire in Kalat, four militants were killed, and a large cache of weapons and ammunition was seized, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
In a separate incident in Shadi Kaur, an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by militants exploded, targeting a security forces team conducting a clearance operation. Major Wajahat Waheed died in the blast. Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed condolences over the officer’s death and praised his sacrifice in service to the country.
