Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said democracy does not give anyone a licence to create disorder in the country. Criticising the Opposition, he alleged that Congress and its allies were using young people for political gains and encouraging unrest. He also accused them of seeking a change of government similar to the developments in Bangladesh. Speaking to the media in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, Singh said the youth should be encouraged to play a constructive role in the country’s development rather than being drawn into political confrontations. He further criticised Opposition leaders for making statements about bringing down the government, alleging that their approach threatened democratic institutions.
Singh said respecting the law was essential to maintaining public order and that democratic institutions should not be sacrificed for political interests. He also backed the Supreme Court’s remarks concerning the Opposition’s rally. Urging Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to respect the people’s mandate, Singh asked him to reflect on his role in politics. Meanwhile, actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut responded to the Opposition’s protests by sharing an old video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on social media. In the video, Modi is heard saying that creating chaos during elections would not help anyone become Prime Minister and that leaders should instead win the hearts of the people. Ranaut shared the clip as a response to Opposition leaders.
