Peddapalli MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna has announced that opposition parties will organise a peaceful march towards the Supreme Court to protest the alleged police lathi-charge and detentions of youth who had gathered to stage a demonstration in Delhi. He expressed concern over the reported use of force against young people seeking to express their views democratically. He said opposition parties were joining hands to protect the rights of the youth and uphold democratic values.
Vamsi Krishna said the opposition was demanding the withdrawal of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process and the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. He stated that a representation would be submitted to the Chief Justice of India regarding these demands. Describing the proposed march as a movement to protect democracy and citizens' voting rights, rather than merely a political struggle, he urged young people, citizens and supporters of democratic values to participate in large numbers and make the peaceful demonstration successful.
