Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited and Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited Additional Managing Director B. Ajit Reddy directed officials to accelerate the ongoing works for the Old City Metro Rail expansion. On Saturday, he inspected the road-widening works along the 7.5-km stretch from Darulshifa to Chandrayangutta. Officials informed him that 833 of the 888 properties affected by the project had already been acquired. He also reviewed the measures being taken regarding heritage structures and old buildings among the remaining 55 properties.
Ajit Reddy instructed officials to speed up the safe relocation of electricity lines, poles, water-supply pipelines and other utilities that could obstruct the metro corridor. He also directed authorities to complete the removal of acquired properties at the earliest. All government departments involved in the project were asked to coordinate closely to ensure the Right of Way is made available quickly. He stressed the need to complete the Old City Metro works at a faster pace in line with the Chief Minister’s directions.
