The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has responded to allegations made by former minister and BRS Deputy Floor Leader Harish Rao regarding the implementation of the Mahalakshmi free bus travel scheme and the operation of festival services. The corporation said the allegations concerning festival ticket fare increases and the cancellation of special buses were unfounded. It stated that decisions related to ticket fares during peak travel periods are taken in accordance with prescribed rules, including the government order issued in 2003. TGSRTC also maintained that the Mahalakshmi scheme continues to operate across the state and that measures are being taken to avoid inconvenience to women passengers.
The corporation said bus services were not reduced during the Dasara festival and that 7,000 additional buses were arranged to accommodate increased passenger demand. According to TGSRTC, 97% of the additional services allocated since October 10 had been operated successfully. Senior officials are continuously reviewing operations to ensure passengers reach their destinations safely, the corporation said. It reiterated that its objective is to provide improved and reliable transport services to the public.
